What Your Donations Can Purchase

Since the autumn of 2003, over $2 million US dollars have been raised and donated to the care and education of Cambodian orphans. Every penny helps! Here's what your donation can do for The Palm Tree orphanage and farm.

100% of donations to Cambodia's Hope goes to the children. All administrative, fund raising and travel expenses are donated by the founders and friends. Donations are tax deductible: IRS determination 501.c.3 ID #20-2097498.

$10-100 donations

  • $10 provides one round of basic antibiotics for one child, or three chickens for the farm
  • $10 - $100 purchases books for the library, art supplies, or sports equipment
  • $25 and up buys vegetable garden variety seeds for the farm
  • $30 provides food and vitamins for one child for one month
  • $35 buys one water pump for the farm
  • $35 and up buys one fruit tree (Durin, Cashew, Grapefruit, Mango) for the farm
  • $40 provides a year's school clothes and shoes for one child
  • $45 buys one day's worth of fuel for the farm's tractors and bulldozer
  • $50 pays for one month's cooking fuel on the farm, or feeds 93 children, 33 staff and 7 staff children for one day, or buys yearly school supplies for one child
  • $50 - $200 provides a musical instrument
  • $50 and up provides fabric for the sewing project, or shop tools, or garden implements
  • $60 provides vitamin supplements for each child for one month
  • $75 and up pays one month's salary for one farm staff member

$100-500 donations

  • $100 covers a child's total expenses for one month, or covers a month's school fees for 40 children, or pays for 30 orphaned children's excursion along the Mekong River, including a meal
  • $100 - $150 pays a month's salary and expenses of one non-teaching staff member
  • $150 provides one dental check-up for each child
  • $150 - $250 pays one month's salary of a general teacher
  • $150 and up pays for one month's transportation on the farm
  • $160 buys the farm one female goat
  • $250 buys the farm one male goat
  • $300 provides sponsorship for one child for a year
  • $360 buys one hand loom
  • $400 provides one semester at the University for one staff member, or covers the expenses for a day at the water park with a meal for a group of 100 orphaned children
  • $400 - $600 pays a month's salary of an English speaking teacher
  • $485 pays for an embroidery machine or a hemstitch machine

$500-1,000 donations

  • $500 buys one cow for the farm, or pays for a weekend's trip to the beach for 30 orphaned children
  • $600 covers the food budget for one month on the farm
  • $720 buys two hand looms
  • $750 pays for a tour of Angkor Wat for 30 orphaned children
  • $800 pays for 3,000 meters of water pipe on the farm
  • $800 and up pays for a well (depth dependent) on the farm

$1,000-5,000 donations

  • $1,000 pays for seed for a year on the farm
  • $1,200 per year pays the salary of a music/vocal teacher, or supplies for the medical clinic, or books and equipment for the preschool, or covers the basic expenses of the farm for an entire month, or sponsors a school-aged child for a year, or pays for a motor scooter that can be used for errands
  • $1,500 per year pays the salary of the nurse or a teaching assistant's salary and expenses for a year
  • $1,600 per year pays the salary of a Cambodian school teacher
  • $1,650 per year provides for a health & recreation director
  • $1,800 per year pays the salary of an English teacher, the salary of an art/ceramics teacher, or the diesel and supplies of the mobile medical clinic, or the salary of the licensed full-time medical assistant
  • $2,000 buys implements on the farm, or a storefront for the farm to sell fruits, vegetables and honey, or one large generator (15kw) for the farm, or one bull for the farm
  • $2,400 pays for a year's expenses of the pre-school program
  • $3,000 per year pays the salary for the physician
  • $3,500 buys a truck or a tractor for hauling equipment and produce on the farm
  • $4,000 pays for one hectare of fruit and nut trees (Durin, Cashew, Grapefruit, Mango) on the farm
  • $4,800 per year pays the salary of a Computer/Math/Accounting Teacher

$5,000-10,000 donations

  • $5,000 pays for livestock (10 cows or 8 goats) for one year on the farm, or covers the basic costs to run the Palm Tree Orphanage for one month
  • $5,500 purchases a van that can be used as transportation for the children
  • $6,000 buys a tractor for the farm, or pays for housing on the farm
  • $7,000 covers costs for the mobile medical unit ($10,000 already donated), or buys a wood working shop for the farm
  • $7,200 provides for Staff Education ($1,800 yearly)
  • $8,000 pays for construction and equipment of clinic ($10,000 already donated)

$10,000-50,000 donations

  • $10,000 pays for an irrigation system on the farm
  • $13,000 pays for a large grove of Burmese bamboo on the farm
  • $14,000 covers the basic expenses of the farm for an entire year
  • $16,000 is needed for a medical center to serve the local village and the farm
  • $20,000 can purchase shelves, books, furnishings and supplies to complete the library
  • $24,300 covers the medical expenses for one year
  • $40,000 can build and run a village school for 80 children for one year

donations over $50,000

  • $60,000 covers the basic expenses of the Palm Tree Orphanage for an entire year

On April 16, 2009 we lost a very special member of the Cambodia's Hope family. Evan Witty was so beloved by all of the children at the Palm Tree Orphanage. We have created a tribute to him on our site.
