The Farm Project

Land for the 130+ hectare (300+ acre) Palm Tree Farm was bought in 2004. It is located in the province of Kampot, about two and a half hours south of Phnom Penh and the Palm Tree Orphanage.

Most of the land has been cleared, three ponds have been dug, and a 180-meter road has been plotted from the farm buildings to the main road. A vegetable garden has been plowed and 10 banana trees, 200 orange trees, and 30 durin trees were purchased and planted. There are two tractors at the farm, as well as a small generator, motorcycle and two pumps for pond water.

There is a school at the farm that supplements the education of the children who live there, as well as children who live in the Kampot area. Also on site is a guest room, a dormitory, a storage shed, a garage and a community room.

Cambodia's Hope plans to introduce to the farm organic farming, and to expand its crops to include squash, pumpkin, watermelon and soybeans (among other vegetables). Other goals include constructing additional buildings for housing and education, planting a bamboo grove, and giving interested older children a chance to learn and implement progressive and sustainable organic farming practices.

A Tribute to Evan Witty
On April 16, 2008 we lost a very special member of the Cambodia's Hope family. Evan Witty was so beloved by all of the children at the Palm Tree Orphanage. We have created a tribute to him on our site.
